Re: Parting is such sweet sorrow...

I'm pushing for a quarter million on mine too. I've only got 60k to go. Glad to see that you stuck with it that long.

Re: 96 855; factory rack or Thule?

I third the rain water pooling with the factory bars. I've put two sheets of 3/4" plywood on my factory bars and had no problems weight-wise. Aerodynamic-wise is another story but the strength of the bars are great!

P0500 and flashing arrow

So I got my Autel MS5609 reader and I could finally read why I got a flashing arrow. I've got P0500 which is vehicle speed sensor fault. I have no ABS or TRACS light. When I look at the live data, I get an accurate speed under the vehicle speed sensor reading when I compare it to the speedo on the d...

Re: EVAP P0455 Help Request

Yeah, sorry about that. Got mixed up on the issue. I just recently replaced the elbows that are connected to the cruise control system. They were as bad off as the rest of them. I've replaced all elbows and all non plastic hoses with silicone hose from Stylin' Motors. What are you trying to trace? D...

Re: EVAP P0455 Help Request

The answer to your questions: Not really and not really. Ok, but seriously on my XC my best bet on all this stuff was to get at it from the bottom. The connections on top of my canister broke so I had to rig a way to get the "J" vacuum elbow connected. After all that I still had P0455 issu...

Re: 96 850 2.4: Driver's window doesn't budge

My XC switch contacts were so bad that no amount of cleaning would fix it. I had to replace the switch. I know it's not the same switch as you 850 but I just had to bite the bullet and get a new switch.

Re: Brick vs Non-Brick

I've had a 245, 855 and a V70XC. They've been progressively less "brick". My inlaws have an S60 and a XC90 and I still refer to them as bricks. It's a title I've just held on to.

Re: Transmission Code "Unknown DTC29"

Any update? I've been having identical symptoms except that I also have no OD. I'm leaning on solenoids too. I just need the time and a proper tool to scan for Volvo transmission codes.

Re: Are WIX oil filters any good?

When I worked for a Volvo Truck shop we could get Wix for cheaper than most other filters because of the relationships we had with the supplier. I used Wix in my 245 and 855 almost exclusively. I've never been dissapointed with a Wix product.
