Re: Passenger front axle
Nick since you are in Michigan maybe you are also close to Detroit Axle on 8 Mile Road. I've used their re manufactured axle for my XC70 with good result.

Re: Engine Sludge: Any Updated Fix?
I just had this theoretical idea of cleaning any engine with sludge... Completely hypothetical... Let's see what you guys/girls think: - Drain old oil and dispose of properly. - Reinstall the drain plug. - Remove spark plugs. - Pour some Berryman or equivalent (AC Delco fluid, info in BMW forum) do...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Brake line and Cliper Service
One tip I can give is that hose nut does not turn when loosening the connection. Hold it with 14mm and turn the brake tube nut with 13mm. Somehow the 14mm hose nut is indexed into the bracket so it will not turn until the connection is fully loosened. Looks like your car have had brake hose replaced...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Rear shock bushing separating
vtl answered your question so I'll just add that replacing shock/springs on mine was much easier as result of those shields keeping joints and fasteners clean.

Re: 2001 V70XC - Rear shock bushing separating
Some observation; there are plastic shields, two per side, that protects the shock lower and springs from splash. I don't know if you took them off prior to the photo. They seem to help keeping things off of rather fragile springs in our XC70's.

Re: 2004 Volvo S60 rear brake hose removal
I just did the same on my 03 XC70 rear left caliper + hose. It can be done without taking out the whole assembly per link above with a caveat. What I did: 1. clear all debris from the brake tube nut connection with wire brush and spray with liquid wrench( or you favorite ) 2. loosen the bracket wher...

Re: LHS heated mirror isn't heating
LHS mirror was replaced as matter of fact. Issue persists so I"m asking what to do here. I'll recheck the mirror element on the replacement unit per the video. Is there a reliable source just for the mirror with heating element? I don't want to buy brand new mirror assembly for my 2001MY with 2...

LHS heated mirror isn't heating
I checked continuity of the heating element on LHS side mirror. I checked the fuse but only the RHS mirror heating is working. What do you recommend I check next?
Remote control to move the mirrors work on both sides.
