The anchor is hollow so the splines of the flat bolt head are only held in place by a few millimeters of the anchor. I stuck my drill right thru the spring and was able to drill a hole at an angle into the flat head bolt and put something into the hole to prevent the bolt rotating while I turned the...

Drill baby drill! right thru the flat part of the bolt head....because when you get that nut off with heat you will not be able to install the nut on the bolt as I still believe the splines (very similar to the windshield wiper arms) are stripped and it will keep spinning in the socket.

The bolt on your spring anchor has splines on the head where it rests in the anchor. If the nut and bolt are spinning, they are stripped. I drilled at an angle into the bolt head and then lodged a something into the hole to keep the bolt from spinning. Spring anchor which comes with a new bolt. $13 ...
