Just have the P2 to Mom to drive and noticed no taillights or front running lights.

DRLs are turned off on this car.

Headlights and high beams work fine
Brake lights, turn flashers, hazards all work

Checked fuse 18 per diagram and its ok.

Away for three days - not critical as Mom only drives daytime but will need to address for next week.

Any hints on troubleshooting modules?

Problem diagnosed in about 5 minutes

Rear driver electrical panel removed, checked fuse 5 for Rear Electronic Control Module. found dark oxidation on fuse pins, cleaned with Swiss Army knife, reinserted.

All lights functioning again.

Lights out again. Police acted as burnt bulb indicator. Will check fuse in morning.

Great find. I often see that discoloration on Volvo fuses. It's odd that a low wattage circuit should have corroded contacts. Perhaps tin the fuses with solder?

I'm running non Canbus friendly LEDs on my rear brake lights to combat the inevitable melting of the housing around the globe holders due to the heat from 21W globes. Each time I press the brake pedal the DIM tells me the brake lights are out

No warning from the DIM on this one, but of course of it is a current comparator circuit, the two circuits were equally balanced at 0!

I’ll confess I am wondering how long these were out. I dont the drive much at night. Car last inspected in Sep 2017.

Technical correction

Fuse 5 is not for the tail lights, but listed as the "REM" fuse.

Failed MOT due to no reversing lights

This time it’s fuse #1. Cleaning and reinserting cleared fault. Done by my shop as they had my notes in the log
