'98 V70R AWD with high mileage should I plunge?

Can't say I enjoyed fitting the hose kit but well worth the effort. Hoses in the car looked and felt original. Hey it's Melbourne Cup day so a public day off.

Glitz and glamour, for sure and for that price, good investment. Purchased individually as black rubber OEM's, you'd probably spend more. Next up, transparent plexiglas hood? That would be cool.

As for that small hose in upper left, note that one end is a little larger than the other. That's the lower (down under if you will) coolant hose. The large end goes to the engine pipe, smaller end to the metal pipe-to-turbo. Item #9 in this picture: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... php?t=6941

I haven't read the entire post—have you dug into the engine yet?

Too big to be number 9. ID is almost the size of radiator hose. I'm not about to throw it out though.

The only other hose I need to replace is the IAC hose which is rock hard.

Engine will get a set of O rings for the sump. Otherwise all done apart from wastegate adjustment. The head was in the cargo area when I purchased this galopee.

The AWD shaft had some rumbling when I first drove it; perhaps the grease in the CVs had to get moved around due to sitting around...... very quiet now.

I'd be interested to see if you notice an oil pressure difference with new o rings: oil light turning off quicker or quieter lifters

I don't know about the o rings now. Motor is already very quiet at startup. It may have been done by the previous owner. I may give it a miss until when/if the valves get noisy. May invest in.an oil pressure guage and get a reading.

Yes we do and last year we had power connected to all the houses in our street; we still haven't purchased any appliances though

Mike, I wasn't being snide

or anything like that. On my cars the ABS control unit is attached to the bottom of the master cylinder. Is it located separately on turbos and I just never noticed before?

A few weeks ago I considered buying for cheap a '98 S70 GLT turbo with the Columba wheels and spoiler, but mileage was unknown and it was just too rough--sun had destroyed paint and whole interior, dings, etc.. Just needed too many $$$ to save it, but I hated to see it go to the bone yard. It's a shame the way some people treat fine automobiles.

You, on the other hand, chose a great car to put your efforts into.
