Post by Dimbor »

I just spend $700.00 on Throttle Body,<know this Error come on ABS when it's hot and turn right or left, next Forward arrow blink ,speedometer is 0 dead Check the engine light come on no more power.
I have to stop and clear all the errors and drive again ,check the engine I can't clear I have to disconnect cable from battery to clear .
I am tired of this Volvo ,Looks good outside and inside it's rotten ,run good on flat land and when drive on the Mountains NO POWER.
Please David.

With all those lights on instrument cluster i would say that your ignition switch is bad.

When you say throttle body & 700$,do you mean on etm module?

In every other circumstances you would need abs/tracs module re-soldering and a tune up.But when all of those lights come on at the same time and there is a power loss....it's only ignition switch which can be bad.

Can you read the code for ecu?

Please use the copied text below as a guide on how to request for help on this Forum

Example
Hi, I have a 1994 850 Turbo with ~170K miles and a lit ABS light. I found this site and, using the very helpful repair database, I pulled the codes from under the hood. From A3 I get DTC 443 "Pump Motor Electrical or Mechanical Fault".

Searching around a little more, it looks like the ABS module in pre- '96 cars rarely fails. But, my understanding is the hydraulic ABS pump has been known to leak in '93-'94's. Is there anything else I should check or test before replacing the pump/motor assembly? I don't see any obvious leaks, and the wiring between the ABS control module and pump/motor seemed to look OK (no visible deterioration of sheathing, or loose wires).

At ~$1,000, a new pump/motor assembly isn't really an option for me. Is it worth trying a used unit? Any tips or instructions for the replacement, is this a manageable DIY repair?

Thanks much,

Ben

Dimbor....that thing you're calling throttle body is ETM(electronic throttle module).

Abs/tracs module is repairable unit.If you know how to solder, you can do that yourself."How to" is in repair database.

If all of those lights came on with loss of power and speedo went to zero in the same time, that means that probably ignition switch is bad.

If everything is ok and your speedo drops to zero along with abs light on...that means that abs module is bad and needs to be replaced or repaired.

Pretty much what he said. Rule of thumb is if it only happens when the ABS light is on then it's the module. If all the lights come on then it's an ignition switch.

If you're hitting limp mode when the speedo drops out that's why you don't have any power.
