I can not find that relay anywhere. I took the panel off, got under there and encountered the "iron dome" with the SRS warning sticker. Pulled four relays to check but none of them were the 210/211 relays. Mine is a 1998 S70 GLT. I just want to disable the alarm system entirely. My lone objective is just to be able to start the car, drive it, and lock the doors. Key fob has been broken for years, no desire to repair it or replace it.

You won't find the 210/211 relays on a 70 series because they aren't there. They only live on the 850s and the '98 S70 has a different system that is considerably more complex. The '98 is not as complex and the '99/'00 version but it was getting there. Back at the original post the car was never identified and it was assumed that it was an 850 which may or may not have been correct.

Thanks. Yes, it is a 98 S70 glt as I mentioned in my earlier post. I gave up today. Got the remote to work the door locks and alarm function but the alarm flashers still will not turn off. I pulled the battery to recharge overnight. Looks like I am going to have it towed in tomorrow.
It did this once before this week but unlocking the door and cycling the lock a few times with the key fixed it. Not this time.

Supplemental restraint system. There is an impenetrable steel shield under that facia panel.

That panel comes off by removing the nuts that are accessed through the holes on either end. It isn't part of the "Active" SRS system, it is just a knee bolster and there isn't anything wired to it.

I have a C70 T5 from 98. Unfortunately I have only one fob and I made the mistake to forget it in my pocket, so it went inside the washing machine. The remote does not work anymore so I cannot disarm the alarm.

It seems that I need to go to the dealer with the car to program a new remote. So I need to start the car. Is there any way to bypass the alarm and start the car without the fob on a 98 C70 ?

I have a used remote from my previous 98 V70 with same id than the C70, I tried without success to program it like they said on some posts found in internet, but I guess it only works with 850.

thanks for your help.

This is how I did it on the Volvo I had. The central locking stopped working for a while and finally the alarm started to go off every time the battery was connected. As neither of the door locks would disable it was clear it was the module.

The module is under the dash, drivers side above the kick panel. May need to remove the knee guard. A black box with 2 green connectors with numerous wires (may say ABS, on the backside). As this was bad it was no longer needed (Plus I don't think anyone would want to steal my Volvo) it was thrown away.

A cheap pushbutton was purchased from Napa that would allow the starter to turn. As the module would no longer be doing its job power would have to get to the starter relay a different way. The center pin in the relay is what needed power. So a fused power wire to the switch in the car, and another wire from the switch to the center pin on the relay ( pretty sure that is pin 87). This bypasses the module and allows cranking. Just put key to accessory position, push the button and she starts. All for about $10!

Attached are some pictures of my work. Hope this helps so someone else isn't spending time dorking around with this.

I have a 96 960 wagon, I'm selling it, new buyer doesn't care if find don't work, doesn't care if the alarm works but, when I changed the left front door, the key only unlocks the drivers door, doesn't disable the alarm ... she does want this fixed...
I either need to know where the 210/211 relay is hidden and which wires to jumper OR how do I fix, adjust or reattach the central locking manipulator doo-hickey .. is it an adjustment or wire with micro switch
Please help
Thanks

My 98 s70 M56 turbo car would not start without jumping the starter relay. Kept messing around, new ignition switch but to no avail. Caught this post and simply wired the relay lug #85 to ground and BINGO everything is working again!
Many thanks to those that contribute......... It is ugly, fast, and sounds angry with the OBX exhaust and the BOV. I LOVE it as a daily!
Best part is my lovely wife thinks I am crazy but she doesn't get why an older man would even drive it.
