Alarm keeps activating for no reason

Got an issue with the alarm on my 2002 V70. Last night I got woken up to the siren. Went outside to check only to discover my car alarm going off for no reason. I turned it off and went back to bed. Tonight same thing happened after work. Alarm went off for no reason.

Any idea what could be causing this or how to diagnose it? I have VIDA DICE unit. Would alarm store any codes?

Alternatively, can I disable the alarm completely? I am not really worried about 600 dollar car getting stolen.

when mine did that I changed the battery in the fob. Fixed it.

Tailgate wiring perhaps? Do the lights stay on inside the car after the doors are shut?

In my 2001 v70 and 2004 xc90, had same thing happen in both. Small battery in alarm module leaks (slowly) and triggers alarm. Had module replaced in 2001 for $200+. On the 2004, I was close to 200,000 miles so I took the fuse out and started leaving the keys in the ignition, hoping someone would steal it.

On the 04, you will retain the message " Alarm service required."

Whereabouts is the alarm module located? Can the battery be replaced or do you have to replace the whole module? If I were to pull the fuse, does that just disable the siren or the whole alarm system?

agree with just pull the fuse for the alarm. You'll still have the blinky light on the dash, just no alarm. problem solved. If someone steals your old volvo, well....that's why you have insurance.

I ended up pulling the fuse. I might end up replacing the alarm or battery next summer but for now this'll do. Just curious, is it normal for the car to lock the doors by itself after a few minutes?
