"Power system service urgent"
"Power system service urgent"
My girlfriend bought a 2009 Volvo s40, and 2 days ago the "power system service" light came on. Went off, then back on today. I've seen a few posts on here regarding this issue, prior to registering to the forum. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

It is a heads up that something in the Power System is below specs and you maybe heading for trouble that could leave you stranded.
I would start by:
1. Cleaning the battery terminals.
2. Cleaning the wiring to the alternator
3. Check the tension of the serpentine belt.
4. Check the battery voltage after the car has sat all night long and before starting the engine.
5. Check the battery voltage with the engine running.
6. Have the battery bench tested.
7. Have the alternator bench tested.
