The rust on the lip of the piston might be what is doing it.

Zapta: Clean, file, sand the rust off the lip of the pistons and try again. Be a good idea to push the pistons back out a little to avoid damaging the seal.
Since he was able to push it back, perhaps just carefully push it out all the way to inspect and clean?

If he gets a seal kit and perhaps new pistons he could rebuild the calipers to like new. He could use a salt and vinegar bath to remove all the rust and make them look good again. A lot cheaper then $153 for the same thing.

Piston seal.

More piston seals for a lot less.

You can also find pistons, seals and full kits on eBay.

Good info, I remember rebuilding drum brake cylinders. I will need to try the Salt and Vinegar bath on my rusty body joints also .

May need to rebuild that 03 Odyssey right rear caliper as it chew through another set of pads and rotor in a year and a half. Just as well as I didn't replace the parking brakes last time and skipped on the bleeding.

Thanks, didn't know there was a kit like that? Only seen the one where you pressurize from the top. I have this, used it a couple of times for motor oil and powersteering reservoir and fluid in the hose. Will attach a hose to it. This has no gauge but will let you know if it works well.

Did you see something wrong with the $10 set here? I found it funny that the seller's name was "liying". At first I pronounced it Lying  then quickly realize it was Li Ying.

I was seeing indicators it is a hijacked account or was set up to scam people. I chose to err on the side of caution.

1.030 is thicker than 1.025. I'd worry about those calipers.

I think you may have missed the decimal place here. 1.030 is smaller than 1.250.
