This is where I am. I can’t get the first one to start straight with hardwood on a jack. I jacked the weight of the car on that bushing and it started to distort. I got it close enough to the body to start a bolt and sucked it up but it went sideways. There’s grease on the bushing and steel opening.Blacklab467 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2020, 13:13 I thought as I did the first one that I was in over my head and would need a press or something to get the new one in….

Put some grease on it and try, if not, just use the bolt and washer as a press. I didn't have much luck getting it started with a jack either and certainly not straight. It'll straighten out as you suck it in with a bolt. You will have to remove one of the front subframe bolts to get yourself a washer.

Sorry I didn't fully read your post. Take a plastic or dead blow hammer to get it straight, then suck it in with the bolt.

OK, I’ll give it another try. Got frustrated and moved on to the rear motor mount, which WILL NOT COME OFF the aluminum bracket.
I got a washer off the front, using that, thanks. I may have scored the steel opening with the bit when drilling out the plastic. I’ll take a round file and maybe a Dremel with a drum and smooth that up. The lip on the plastic may be catching on that.

I think it’s grabbing at the cut in the lower subframe hole. I spun the bushing 180, catches at the same spot.

If I was there in that last picture I would beat the side of the bushing with a plastic mallet or a chunk of 2by4 and a hammer to get it started straight.

I tried to push inward on the plastic to get it to pop in. I felt like I was about to split it. I backed it out again.
<EDIT>……..POUND in on the plastic. 1/2” extension, blunt chisel, dull crowbar, with a ball peen and a dead blow.

How far away are you from subframe removal ? On the bench, with a press, I bet this job is a snap and a pop.
