DKS15CH is the Zexel model number. Use DKS15CH to search for parts. You can find Santech parts for a lot less.
DKS15CH uses the same front seal as DKS13G & DKS15BH.

Read pages 1,6 & 16. Use the Vida 2014D Repack not the one you got off eBay.
There still hope for that transmission. P0748 does not translate to a 1998 S70. I think you OBD scanner has poor translations. Not uncommon for generic scanners. I suggest you get a ELM327 interface version 1.4 or higher (or a good quality clone) and scan it with 850 OBD-II . P0748 is a generic code...
As old as the car is, it is bound to have some air leaks which can be the source of the backfire. I suggest you smoke test the intake and exhaust system. Fix any leaks you find. Keep in mind a lot of .01s add up.
The unconnected cables most likely are options you do not have. Inspect them with a Loupe for scratches on the metal contacts.
Scratches = been used before. No scratches = never been used.
Long time since I looked at this, but if I recall there were several things on the same circuit. I can't recall but I think there were 3 things. The barometric sensor, the (can't recall the name) sensor on the front cross member and I thin the 3rd was some sensor on the A/C system near the bulkhead...
