Volvo changed the design on the stick and the tube slightly because they kept wiggling out. If you try to buy a new dipstick you probably have to buy and install the new tube that goes with it. Those things only cost about $8 at the dealer if memory serves. Particularly in hot weather, I think you want to have a hose there that works. Your chip MIGHT not burn up but, why take a chance? It's only $8. The computer it cools costs a lot more than that.
