I just cleaned it and will keep an eye on it.

PS:
- PCV just overhauled in Dec 2012.
- Spark Plug Plastic Cover removed, so top of engine is clean.
I was able to loosen the 7mm clamp screws at the each end of charged-air hose. But could not figure out putting it back together once taken off, so left it for another weekend.

Anyone out there with notes on removing and installing charged-air hose?
Loosen that clamp - you found out how to do that hard part.

Disconnect the PTC connections.

PULL - hard!!!

It is item 1 in the diagram which needs to come off. The ends of this pipe are grooved.
I had clamps 6 and 7 loosened.
Would a spray of soap-water lubricate it for ease, and not break the plastic pipe?

Oil on the outside of a turbo typically indicates a leak from another place on the engine. How's the flame trap?

I have positive crankcase vent. But I will check the flame trap.
Removing the charged-air pipe would help with playing around.

Last night I notice a clear and visible buildup of fluid on '97 850 engine block, close to the distributor cap. Reading MVS post indicates intake rear CAM seal is giving in.

Now both my cars have cold.

I replaced the REAR Cam Seals on 97 850.
This coming weekend, I will try diagnose the leak.
Starting with charge-air hose removal, it seems pulling at clamp 6 would come first, then the location at clamp 7.

I have seen a photo with Justin standing above the engine, is that the only way to pull the pipe off?
Or, is there a gentle pry bar method, where to lever it?

xHeart,

A drop of oil here and there (under the Turbo) is fine.
Personally, I would leave the Turbo alone. Just periodically clean the oil and watch.
I think it probably comes from the PCV system that hooks onto the Turbo air intake, not much to worry about.

Yeah, something like this worked best for me. You can then reach down in there and just give it a good, solid yank.

But then, I'm short.

Cam seals could also be an issue on the 2001...does it look wet around the cam sensor at the back of the engine at all?

A relief!
I could postpone it for now.
