“Get an inside look at your new Volvo EX30” they said (via email with a link in it). So I did.
Meh. A steering wheel with a spoke at 6 o’clock. I’m not a fan. I loved my 850’s wheel because I’d rest my hand at 6 (the spokes were at the sides) and grew to find it most comfortable. Placing my hand at 6 makes a wonderful weight on the wheel to guide the automobile down Denver’s very straight streets, and on long freeway trips. It’s simply less fatiguing to do it this way.

I’d forgotten I’d ordered one of these EX30s! I’d be surprised if mine came up before next summer. I haven’t run across any news that Volvo is ramping up for production yet.
Maybe it’s me, or maybe it’s a case of bigtime waning excitement for this car. I don’t know. Maybe Volvo is doing a bad job of keeping me in the loop. At risk of blaming an external element for a feeling I have, I’d say the Volvo marketing department needs to do a better job at instilling excitement.
This lonely email and Web page does not cut it.
And a three-spoke wheel doesn’t either.
