USASpec iPod adapter Review
MVS Forum member Maxlcon reviews his PA-11HON with a list of The Good and a list of The Bad, from the unit itself to the compatibility with his Volvo SC-901 head unit to USASpec customer service.
MaxIcon » A single DIN with an adapter/filler should work fine. I haven’t actually replaced a Volvo stereo yet, but it appears to be a standard double DIN arrangement using a single DIN adapter.
I just bought a Metra single DIN adapter for my 98 V90, which is going to get another inexpensive JVC KDR-600 for one of my kids, but I haven’t installed it yet. I’d assume the S70 is similar, but you might want to check the Metra and Scosche sites for fit. I’m also assuming you can get a cubby for the blank spot, which is what I did for the Miata.
ETA: Here’s what I ordered – looks like it’s the same as the S70:

ETAA: I just looked closer at it, and it’s the pocket, not the radio mount. It’s got a couple of shelves in there for CDs, which makes it a bit useless to me as they take up space, and the inside finish isn’t nearly as nice as the OEM pocket for the Miata. Still, it’ll work. Now I have to order the single DIN radio mount
Everyone loves the thumb drive capability on the JVC, which is great when you have multiple people sharing a car. We keep a handful of thumb drives in the console, and each person keeps their own favorite music on theirs. It’s not as flexible as an iPod, but they’re cheap enough to not worry about them getting stolen.
