Are EX30s in Yet?

A Field Trip To My Local Volvo Dealer

I was sure there’d be an EX30 or two at McDonald Volvo when I stopped in on Saturday. I was nearby, and if I had planned to go I might have called first to find out if they had any in the showroom. But hey I was next door so I popped in. Serendipity and all…

If you’ve read this far, you can probably put 2 and 2 together and guess that no they didn’t in fact have any. Not only didn’t they not have any, they haven’t gotten even one delivered. I was premature in my last EX30 post about the ship with 631 onboard, and their delivery dates. I didn’t realize Denver has no port to offload them until somebody whispered it to me in an act of kindness and awkward embarrassment.

  • a salesman said he only knows one person at the dealer who has driven an EX30
  • no ETA for arrival at the dealer
  • all McDonald Volvo’s EX30 stock, when they get it, will be $47,895 Ultra trim
  • I’m still 97% sure I’m not going to buy one, though I still haven’t asked for my $500 deposit back yet
  • same with EX90… none around

Instead of photos of EX30s, please accept these cheap substitute photos of the McDonald Volvo lounge and boring XC90 and XC60 cars ;-).

Here’s me about to order an espresso. It didn’t arrive, a harsh reminder to the EX30 delivery estimates. Nothing at all happened. (If you’ll allow me, this had me thinking of an analogy of a bad starter… turn the key and nothing happens.) Normally I’d try to simply push the espresso button again, but the analogy I mentioned was at the front of my mind and I figured I didn’t want to fight with technology. I pressed the coffee button and that worked fine.
Ah that new car smell…
Ah that hot chocolate smell…
Flyin’ the flag!
Anyone need a car?
America REALLY needs color in cars again. Everything on the road is monochrome, not just these Volvos. In the 1990s you could spot eight different shades of green at a random stoplight.
It’s funny to think that all that stands between me and a luxurious driving life is an hour, a signature on a piece of paper, and a not-insignificant monthly payment.
