Brake Pads that Don’t Squeal

After my last post I visited the local NAPA. I picked up some Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant. I coated any and all contact surfaces and pins with this stuff and you guess it. IT WORKED!! 8) 😀

It has been 9 days and not a peep. If the squeel comes back I will let you know, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Non- Squealing Brake Pads?

There are a couple of versions of the rear calipers. One version has a step built into the end of the piston and the other has a flat faced piston. On the step faced piston you can use a full shim, on the flat faced piston you should use a “trimmed” half shim.

I have also used a product called “Disc Brake Quiet” from Permatex when I didn’t have any Sil Glyde brake grease and it has worked fine with the Mintex Red pads for over 2 years now.
