Volvo News
The Volvo EX30 is two weeks from its worldwide debut on June 7th. It’s Volvo’s small EV, and I can’t overstate the importance of this model. How the current (no pun intended) small EV twins — C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge — will coexist with this new EX30 is anyone’s guess. I think Volvo will continue to sell the twins alongside this new EV.
If you toss in the Polestar 2 — made by Volvo subsidiary Polestar and in the same price class — this small EV segment is crowded… and that’s just by one (parent) company.
If you’re not interested in EVs, I have bad news for you — Volvo just isn’t talking about gasoline-powered Volvos these days. You have to go down 21 spots in Volvo’s list of press releases to even see mention of a non-EV Volvo in the summaries. This demonstrates Volvo is all-in on EVs, and thus groups itself in the vanguard of electrification in passenger cars

The good news? Volvo will sell some of its EV in rear-wheel-drive configuration. So fun in the snow is back, at least.

By the way, is it strange that Volvo is all-in on EVs given that it has Polestar (a subsidiary) that is all-EV? See our forum discussion on this here.
EX30 news comes on the heels of EX90 news… the EX90 will be Volvo’s large electrified SUV. Its availability continues to be “first half 2024”. This will be the XC90’s replacement, but they will overlap for several years, sold side-by-side at dealers. The EX90 will be Volvo’s largest vehicle, and as such, it’ll have the best equipment and features Volvo offers… assuming you option up for all the goodies.

Volvo says, “The Volvo EX90 is a very exciting and important car for Volvo Cars, representing the start of a new era for the company and introduces a new generation of technology – hardware and software.”
Waze app is now available in all recent Volvos. “Our in-car app library just grew one app larger today as Waze becomes available to all Volvo cars with Google built-in around the globe. Our collaboration also brings the in-car Waze app to drivers in the US and Asia Pacific for the first time.”

Before this, you could use Waze, but through CarPlay or Android Auto.
