1999 S70 GLT… Where to start?
New MVS member shertzog bought a 1999 S70 GLT with almost 300k miles, and he’s been fixing it up: new spark plugs, new coolant tank, new headlight bulbs. Repaired: j-hose. Painted: headlight reflectors.
290,600 miles, white/tan (leather in front seats pretty beat up).
new plugs (. – $5/pr Amazon – with a $2/pair rebate!)
New coolant tank (Carparts.com – ~$23 with s/h)Painted faded reflectors gloss white, helped some.
Ordered a pair of TYC with glass lenses ( ~$150 for the pair. I couldn’t bring myself to drop the big $ on the beautiful C-70 jewel upgrades).
Made a side-of-the-road repair (with self-stick silicone tape) to the infamous J-tube EVAP hose (which hopefully clears teh P0455 Gross leak EVAP code, the only code currently keeping me from registering it!)

My one question is are you replacing both your headlamps or just the glass and gaskets for $150? They have the lenses ala carte for around $45. Best of luck with the restoration it’s a lot of work but its enjoyable. Take advantage of the treasures at your local salvage yard as well.
shertzog » Those RA TYC units are the whole assembly, which is great, since my glass was somewhat pitted, as well as the reflectors and bulbs needing replacement. I called my local (I’m out in the country) salvage yard and was quoted ~$40 for a used coolant resevoir, I decided to take a chance on the cheap carparts.com (JC Whitney) version mentioned in my first post. I will keep checking with them, and with the yards in Charlotte/Gastonia, too, especially as I start looking for a pair of front seats with decent tan leather (!)
