MVS Volvo Forums member jcb went to great lengths to isolate the ECU in his 2001 XC70. He did work to make sure it was the culprit. This forum topic is how he diagnosed a failing ECM/ECU on his P2 Volvo. After two days of troubleshooting, I’m ready to send my ECM out for repair (2001 […]
Watch with your own eyes as ARD’s talented and resourceful owner Lucky takes a blown-up S70 and strips its engine down to bare metal, and builds it into a forged, 20T-turbo monster. forged pistons forged rods 20T turbo limited slip differential from Quaife M56 manual transmission from a donor Volvo N/A cams Green injectors R […]
An Automatic 850 Goes Over 300hp. Way Over.
Two weeks ago today we started working with RZ Design on the R32 turbo kit they offer for 2004-2007 R models. With RZ doing the hard work of the install in the first week it left the remainder of the next week for us to complete the tuning. The turbo on this kit is capable of over 500bhp so reining that in to keep the engine safe was priority number one! The engine in stock form is capable of handling approx.
This week’s Fast Friday is a Tune My Ride! Whoo!
In it, Lucky tackles the most basic — bust most important — questions when shopping for an exhaust for your Volvo: Diameter, Shape, Material, Ease of Installation, Warranty, Sound, and Catalytic Converter + Legality of using non-OEM equipment.
For those who might remember the days of adjusting ignition timing at the distributor and feeling the gain of power by just a few degrees of ignition advance, E85 allows for as much as 7-8 degrees of additional ignition advance which can translate to some serious power gains!
ARD owner and tuner Robert “Lucky” Arnold writes When I started tuning years ago the only thing approachable was using a piggyback ECU to adjust fuel and timing on my LH fueled RWD Volvos. Of all the cars I put piggyback on, my 242 was my favorite and after the swap from the mechanical K-jet […]
LPT motors are great when it comes to the low end grunt it takes to get AWD cars moving, but the wastegate setting is critical to get that early boost development that makes these cars so nice off the line. If you haven’t set your wastegate yet I can’t stress how much that will affect driveability.
Another ARD Green Tune Review MVS Volvo Forum user ojdorson writes “It was a real pleasure to deal with Lucky. After a few quick e-mails, I decided to go with his recommendations – ARD Green Tune with M44 conversion. The ECU was shipped very quickly and the installation process is fairly brainless. I lost one of the […]
Same MPGs, but with more aggressive driving. If you do this, realize that getting on the highway will be a blast, and still faster than it needs to be on the highway, but not as great if you were to go with an 18/19t and [ARD] blue. (no experience with this).
I have a 98 S70 GLT, i have completed stage 0 and have ordered a 16t and ARD Green tune (17 psi). Being a teenager, I will of course keep my foot down. I realize how much wear and tear this causes and want to know things I can do to keep up with it. […]
I was looking for a 16t and a good tuner, but with limited cash I didn’t want to go to IPD. I heard nothing but good news from ARD when I found out it was Lucky from IPD, my hopes soared. Unfortunately, I still didn’t have a 16t.
