Volvo C70 Seat Switch Fix

On the C70 the micro switch (3/168) bracket brakes. If the micro switch is not close, the seat will not move. The Volvo dealer has a up-date for the seat.

The Volvo front seats are electrically operated for position, inclination and height. A Seat switch is mounted to the side of the front driver and passenger seats. There is also an optional memory function for each seat with positions that can be programmed for different drivers. Seat memory is tied into the steering wheel position and outside rear view mirror as well. When the driver presses one of the seat memory buttons, the seat, steering wheel and mirror adjust automatically.

The seat switch can fail and wear out over time, leaving you with a non-functioning seat. I have seen cases where the switches have been stepped on by a child or hit with something and broken. If you are left to deal with any of these problems, search our forums to help find a solution.

If you have a stuck seat and want to test the switch, you can test the output of the switch to each motor and manually activate motors to test them. First check the fuses. Once you confirm the switches have power, operate the switch and monitor the motor you are attempting to run for power and ground. You can manually operate a motor using fused power and ground directly to the motor. When testing seat motors, be sure to keep yourself and your clothing clear of the seat, as it could move. You don’t want to get snagged or pinched while working on it.

Volvo C70 Seat Switch

Hey guys, new to the forum

I just bought a ’99 volvo C70, only to find that the power seats don’t work AT ALL. This is on both passanger and driver’s side, there is no motor noise or anything at all, and the heated option still works. I would assume this would be a fuse but nothing I can find mentions a fuse for the power functions, only for the heated function. I checked most of the fuses in the secondary panel (unless there’s a 3rd I don’t know of???) and none of them looked corroded or broken, I’ve seen there’s alot of people who have the problem with broken wires, but this is on both passanger AND driver’s side, so I’m very confused. Please help!!

Does anyone know if the motors for all Volvo seats are the same or different? The one on my 94 850 Non Turbo seat recline isn’t working and I just won the motor for a 98 S70 and I’m curious to know if the parts/motor are interchangeable. Thanks for any info.
