ATF Flush Vs Drain

Nice discussion of flush vs drain and fill, and frequency in this thread.
How often do you guys flush your ATF
What Happens when my Automatic Transmission Fluid Breaks Down?
Over time, the gears inside the transmission will slowly wear down. Metal shavings can begin to collect in the automatic transmission fluid. What’s more, the fluid itself is breaking down and losing its ability to do its job: Enabling the engine to connect and disconnect from the transmission. Eventually, the fluid dynamics of the transmission will suffer so much that your car may become impossible to put in gear, or sluggish to change gears and accelerate. That’s a sign that your transmission’s ATF has broken down too far to function properly.
How Often Should I Have the Transmission Inspected in my Volvo?
Consult your owner’s manual to find the interval Volvo recommends for inspecting your transmission fluid. For instance, in the 2016 Volvo XC60, the automatic transmission should be inspected every 50,000 miles according to factory recommendation. If the quality of the fluid is suboptimal, or some of the fluid has leaked out, your transmission will be drained, filled and any leaks sealed.
