You might be wondering “Matt, why did you make a Volvo t-shirt with the graphed pulses from the first known pulsar, CP 1919, discovered in 1967 by Jocelyn Bell Burnell and Antony Hewish, the image of the pulses itself taken from The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Astronomy (1977)!?”

Volvo News
- Volvo Cars in North America is ramping up U.S. manufacturing to counter tariff pressures and meet hybrid demand, while full EV sales continue to trend downward.
- The company reported Q2 2025 sales of 31,395 vehicles, up 4.4% year-over-year, with electrified models comprising 30%, a 5.6% dip. Key focus remains on expanding the South Carolina plant, which currently produces the EX90 EV and Polestar 3, toward full 150,000-unit capacity.
- Hybrid Production Expansion: Volvo will produce a new U.S.-designed hybrid SUV (XC90-sized) at its Ridgeville, SC plant by 2030, boosting sales 60% to ~200,000 units annually and dodging import tariffs.
- Leadership Shift: Michael Cottone replaced as U.S./Canada head in April; Luis Rezende now oversees expanded Americas region including Latin America.
- Volvo Cars celebrates four million cars produced on SPA architecture(!)
