Volvo “Blue box” parts — we all know them and use them when it makes financial sense, or when we want the best. So why this post? What’s going on?
Uh Oh
Volvo Forum moderator Ozark Lee – “It appears that our new owners are monetizing their investment by liquidating the existing parts inventory. The latest is a speaker grill for the XC. No longer available and there are no plans to ever produce it again. That speaker grille might be one of the most fragile parts there is on 98-00 S or V series car.”
Volvo Forum member 850 LPT – “There seems to be something else going on with OEM parts supplies since the new ownership. I went to my favorite inependent Volvo repair shop the other day and they told me that they now see more and more blue box parts coming from — you guessed it, China.”
Background – Two years ago Chinese company Geely bought Volvo (cars) from Ford.
Parts – I suppose we should have expected this.
