A bad thing happened last night while putting my left rear wheel back on my V70 R. The lug bolt broke in half.
After my cursing stopped, I looked around this site for how to remove broken bolts. I found a post from back in the summer by member green27614 on how he gets broken bolts out.
Then I went to Home Depot and bought a 1/4″ metal drill bit ($5), a Black and Decker 5-piece screw extractor set ($9), and a punch/chisel set ($20). I was ready for war.
I then squirted a few blasts of Liquid Wrench at the bolt and waiting 10 minutes. After center punching the bolt to make a divot, I started drilling it. To my amazement, the bolt actually began turning a bit.
I stopped drilling and took a punch and dialed it out. Lucky.
