To perform a climate unit blower replacement and replace a blower motor, you will need:
- New blower motor
- T-25 Torx bit
- Ratchet and extension
- Swivel socket adapter
- Phillips head screwdriver
Let’s talk climate unit blower replacement.
If you hear an unpleasant screeching sound when you turn on your Volvo’s climate control fan, your blower motor is going bad. It is most likely a bad bearing. If you don’t fix it, not only is it annoying, it will eventually ruin the blower resistor on the MCC unit or the power stage on the ECC unit. They are nearly as expensive as the blower, so being proactive and replacing the blower motor will save you time, hassle, and money.
This repair/replacement procedure can take from 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on your level of skill and experience, as well as your model of Volvo.
