Five pulleys, three belts… where does everything go? Let’s correct 240 Belt Routing…
Correct Belt Routing for B230F Engine Volvo 240

My power steering belt slipped as well – first when I routed it via crankshaft and power steering pump, then when I routed a different, larger belt via crankshaft, water pump/fan, and p.s. pump.
I eased up on the tension and it’s been ok since.
Also, I noticed that my fan clutch was sticking, so I cleaned it with some degreaser and got it spinning smoothly again. I thought that maybe this might have somehow caused the belt to slip.
In any case, the belt had loosened a bit after a few days of initial wear, so I tightened it up some more and drove around for a bit. It’s showing no signs of slipping.
The Volvo 240
For model year 1983, the emblem at the rear of all 240 models was changed. No longer did it say 242, 244 or 245. The badge just said 240, as part of a new designation strategy. In reality, however, most people continued to refer to their cars as a 244 or 245.
This change did not mean any large-scale modification to the cars.
