Have you ever wondered How to Read Actual Miles from the ECU?
Did you know that you can read the actual miles on your Volvo even when the odometer is broken? Yes, it’s true. This can be done as long as you have DTC boxes under the hood. It’s just a matter of connecting the fly wire to the socket and then entering a code followed by a number of timed button presses. Read on to see what our forum members are saying in regards to this helpful procedure.

Someone try this and if it works, please, Matthew, put this in the Database:
As long as you have the DTC boxes up under the hood (’93-’95).
1. Switch ignition on
2. Connect the fly wire to socket – A7
3. Push button 5 times
4. When LED comes on and stays on, enter code 1-1-1 as follows:
– press the button once when LED is still on
– wait for LED to go out and come on again
– press the button once when LED is still on
– wait for LED to go out and come on again
– press the button once when LED is still on
– read off response, which will be the last three digits of the odometer miles5. Repeat steps #3-4, but enter code 1-1-2 (that is, press the button twice on the last step); read off the response, which will be the first three digits of the odometer miles. If you have less than 100,000 miles, the first digit will read as 10 blinks.

I had to post and say I think this works. I have a 94 850 and it read off about what I should have as my odometer busted a while back. Very handy! All zeros seem to be ten blinks. no matter what position they are in. Thanks!

I tried this but the LED light does not come on. Any way to get power to the reader? or could the bulb be burned out?
