MVS Forums how-to replace your volvo rearview mirror.
A rear-view mirror is a mirror in automobiles and other vehicles, designed to allow the driver to see rearward through the vehicle’s backlight (rear windshield or windscreen).
In cars, the rear-view mirror is usually affixed to the top of the windshield on a double-swivel mount allowing it to be adjusted to suit the height and viewing angle of any driver and to swing harmlessly out of the way if impacted by a vehicle occupant in a collision.
The rear-view mirror is augmented by one or more side-view mirrors, which serve as the only rear-vision mirrors on motorcycles and bicycles.

I was adjusting my rear view mirror yesterday and the metal
stalk broke in 1/2 . Part is still in the socket in the rearview mirror, the other part is in the ceiling fixture mount
My question is, how/or can I replace this myself? If not, what do you
think the cost of this would be or where can I buy a replacement mirror.
MVS Forum Member CarVolvo replied:
remove the lenses on both sides of the dome light with a screw driver. Underneath that you will find two torx bits.. remove them and you will then see the mirror attachement.
This is also removed with larger torx screws. two of them.
If you only have the non electrical unit which does not have the automatic dimmer you can get them for 20 or more.. the other type is closer to 50.

Look on eBay. I see the basic mirror there all the time.

If you need to replace it, go for the autodimmer upgrade. VERY nice add.
I just wish I could get the feature for the mirrors outside the car!
( We have a pile of trucks around here that have headlights right at eye level…)
