Have you been searching for a good volvo 850 vacuum hose diagram?
The first thing to do when testing your vacuum hose system in your Volvo is to find a vacuum hose line that is under the hood of the car. A brake booster hose is a good source. Remove the vacuum hose by loosening the hose clamp and pulling it off by hand. Find an adapter in the vacuum tester kit that fits the hose you have selected. Plug the adapter into the hose and attach the adapter to the tester. Start the vehicle and let it reach operating temperature. Take the reading from the gauge and compare it to the vacuum specifications in the repair manual. There will be a range that is acceptable.

FINALLY, a Vacuum Hose Diagram
This is for a ’98 T-5. Others will vary but the same or similar to most 850 turbo’s. The designed changed with later S/V/70’s so be aware. I got so darned frustrated trying to see this intsy bittsy diagram under the hood of the car, so I finally took a decent digital picture today. I hope it helps others. Just copy it and keep it on your computer. It should be a good reference.
MVS Forum Member STORMY asks:
can a hole in the vacuum hose cause the air to blow out the side vents and not the middle ones?

Just came across this older thread.
I finally bought the 98 v70 Non-Turbo wagon I had mentioned in an earlier thread. The car id nice and I was able to talk her down and we settled for $2,500.00 based on the need of a timing belt (complete) and possible CV Joint or Spring Seat on passenger side, not to mention it was low on 3 qts of oil, but no aparent leak from the rear main seal… The leak was from the oil filler cap that was not sealing well… My 240 did that and the trich was a $10.00 cap.
Anyway…
I washed the engine compartment today since it was filthy… Oil leaked over time from above (oil filler cap) and in the bath… the high pressure of water took out one vacum hose and I have no clue as to where it connects.
I will see if I can get a pic tomorrow to show you guys to help me ID where it goes.
Description of where I am sure it comes from:
Just at the back of the air filter box and facing the driver are two vacum pegas that come from the filter box… The lower vacum line is still conected and the rubber elbow looks OK but could be replaced… It’s the one on the top…
The top elbow was brittle and could not take the pressure of the water and gave way… Now I have a line of about 10-12″ long and I cannot find where it would have conected to.
