Volvo Owner’s Manuals Now in App Form!

Volvo has created a handy Volvo Manual mobile app to allow owners to view their car’s user manuals on the go. Currently the app includes manuals for vehicles manufactured in 2004 and up, though manuals for cars made between 2005 and 2015 are only available as a PDF (still useful, but not quite as cool). For 2015+ models, the app is a bit more fun, as users can watch videos and interact with the info.

Nothing beats having your manual printed out in front of you (you’ve still got it, right?), but this is certainly a cool addition. Even a simple PDF has its uses – keyword searching alone is worth downloading the app! For example, let’s say you need to know how much coolant your vehicle needs, but don’t want to flip through the book. Just type in ‘quarts’ and you’ll quickly find everything you need.

Unfortunately, the app doesn’t enjoy great customer reviews across the board, with many users claiming it doesn’t work properly. But –  hey – it’s free, so download it and try it out. If it doesn’t work, just toss it and grab your book!

Keep in mind that Volvo also publishes all their user manuals online as well, so head over there if you’re on a desktop. And if you’ve got a 2015 or newer Volvo (in the US at least), don’t forget you can interact with your vehicle through the Volvo On Call app (if you pay for a subscription). You can lock your doors, start your engine, and even check your dashboard stats (battery and fuel level, trip reports, etc) all from the comfort of your couch!

For those of us that want to tinker with our older vehicles, there’s always the good ol’ Haynes and Chilton repair manuals. If you’re doing any sort of repair or maintenance to your vehicle, these guides are worth their weight in gold. If you need to repair or replace a part, these books lay out step-by-step how to access, remove, and check the part, provide tips and warnings to make it easier and safer, and even provide electrical wiring diagrams if you’re really brave!

Now more than ever, we’ve got a wealth of information available at our fingertips – and in many different formats – so get out there and see what you can find!

Have a problem with volvo transmission fluid level stick. V70 -1998. Is there some kind of trick. Thing will not budge. Does not want to come out. Any suggestions.

Ooops, sorry Jim, they don’t make a S70 version. I have no idea why. Maybe the 850 version that I reviewed would work for you, it all depends on how you can deal with small differences in what the documentation describes vs. what you encounter on your S70. Volvo 850s and S70s are very similar, probably 80%+ shared parts. 100% shared concepts.

Good Morning,
I just replaced the heater core on my kids 1999 Volvo S70, fun fun. Now after I have put everything back together, when she turns on her heat it blows out hot air on three of the vents, but on the vent just right of the driver it blows out cold air. Just wondering if I put the link on the heating tuck together wrong. Any idea’s? Thanks so much.
