Here’s how to disassemble the volvo manual climate control
The Volvo Manual Climate Control is a semi-automatic air conditioning system, which regulates the temperature of the fresh air supply depending on the desired temperature setting. Air distribution and blower speed are set manually by the driver. The Volvo Manual Climate Control includes an interior sensor to measure the temperature inside the car. The electronic control regulates the temperature of the fresh air intake to reach the set value as quickly as possible and then maintain it constantly.
If you select one or more manual functions, the other functions continue to be controlled automatically. The air quality sensor is engaged and all manual settings are switched off when AUTO is pressed. The display shows AUTO CLIMATE.

Here are the steps involved in taking apart the module for the AC and recirculation switches for an 95 850 GLT with Volvo manual climate control.
Step 1
Pull and remove control knobs
Step 2
Remove face plate. Secured by two screw in temp dialsStep 3
Remove wiring connector. With utility knife cut felt tape on bottom, and then remove module by pressing tabs on sidesStep 4
Press two tabs in rear, one tab on each side and gently lift top cover enough to remove rocker switches. Be very careful as the pins on the switches are fragile and it is spring loaded. Press one more tab in front and remove top cover. The AC LED was stuck to the hood and had to be separated before the top could be removed. The LED must have got really hot.Step 5
To reassemble first position the gold colored spring and slider in the bottom cover with the pointy end of slider facing toward the front.
