Need A Replacement Thermostat? Vernat, Wahler, SuperStat, OEM… which choice should you make for your replacement thermostat?

I know WAHLER is the OEM thermostat. But are there other brands that are equal or better? How about Stant? They have 5 different ones listed for the 1998 V70XC. Anywhere from 9.99 to 25.00. I’m going to change out mine next week, and am looking for the best one out there. Thanks for all the advice.

WAHLER is the king.
I have used Wahler in my Porsche, BMW, Volvo for 25 years, zero issues.
Don’t mess with success, use Wahler, it is $13.

I have used the Vernats on all of mine but one of them recently failed in the Platinum after just 2 years (Stuck open fortunately).
The Vernat stats don’t have the jiggle valve so I drilled a 1/16″ hole in the diaphragm before I installed it to serve the same function.
I think this time I will go either OEM or the Wahler.

i’d avoid regular stant but they do have a premium brand called the superstat that i use on my XC with excellent results. they have a 180 degree version which is roughly 82 degs celsius.
