240 Wiper Linkage

MVS Forums member blenkusha asks how to get at a 240’s Wiper linkage: “I’m pretty sure my the wiper needs replacing – or at least fixing. I’m guessing I have to go through the dashboard to get at it. Is this fix a pain or very time consuming?”

“The driver side wiper reaches out past the windshield and gets stuck on return. The passenger side wiper seems to work ok, but with the driver side wiper out of wack, the two have gotten tangled. The motor works, they operate, but they are mis-timed.”

I’m pretty sure my the wiper  needs replacing – or at least fixing. I’m guessing I have to go through the dashboard to get at it. Is this fix a pain or very time consuming? I’m also guessing there are no easy solutions, but if anyone has something I’d love to hear it!:-)

  • Linkage AdjustmentAfter dealing with what was thought to be a driver’s side wiper arm issue (common), the issue resulted in replacement of the entire wiper linkage or transmission (also known as the “frame.”). During the replacement process, there was huge confusion as to the proper alignment of the linkage. Nowhere on the internet is there a proper description of how to align it, but I figured it out and so did a write-up with pictures of how to properly do this. If you did not make notes, mark the old linkage or take pictures, then you will need this information or your wiper blades will not work the way they need to work on your 850. I assume that first generation S/V/C70’s are the same but I’m not sure. Even if they aren’t, the information…
