MVS member Auburn T5 goes bananas on fixing up a 1998 Volvo S70 T5. Stage 0, new transmission, new struts, shocks and springs, you name it. Documented with photos too. Did a lot of stage zero work – inspected vacuum lines, changed oil filter, fuel filter, top motor mount, k&N panel filter, timing belt, water […]
What do you propose for S60 Preventive Maintenance Parts? Focus on something – weak point/part of the engine/tranny?
MVS Forums contributor rmmagow, a veteran of writing excellent DIY Volvo tutorials, throws down how to do a fuel filter change on a 98 V70 AWD. Just did this over the weekend and wanted to write it up. I’m a bit of a luddite and don’t own a camera and have no clue how to […]
Fuel system check valve installation may delay fuel pump replacement. I wanted to put the valve before the filter because I’ve seen and read of others doing it that way, and it working. So, to remedy this, I decided to cut down the inlet nipple on the filter to help with the length. 1999 Volvo […]
I recently changed out the filter on my 240 which has the same set up. I had the thing in and out about 5 times before I got it right. When you to get it out put that fuel line that connects to the filter and the pump on while you have it out of […]
This is a short DIY write up for the removal of a fuel filter on an 850. This is a very easy procedure, just remember to be safe — safety goggles, no open flame [despite the photo to the right], rags to clean up spilled fuel.
The OEM filter is a Bosch unit and I highly recommend getting a new Bosch replacement as opposed to an aftermarket unit. The change interval was 60K miles and is now 100K miles. My car has 120K so I decided to change mine.
This is a very short fix; 15- 20 mins max.
How To Change Fuel Filter V70: This is one of the easier things you can do at home to maintain your Volvo. I was amazed at the simplicity of the quick release system on this filter.
Here’s one of three videos on this tutorial.
B21F Engine – 240 Fuel Filter Location Disconnect the battery negative lead making sure that you have the radio code if applicable. In the luggage compartment lift the carpet and you will see an inspection plate in the floor. Remove the plate to see the top of the sender unit. Disconnect the earth (ground) wire […]
Spark Plugs 1 – The turbo line that goes front to back will need to be removed. What I did was just remove the clamp ring towards the front of the line (because it is easiest to get to), but there is also one at the back. If you can do what I did, loosen the front clamp and pull the plastic hose out of the rubber.
Knowing how to change your vehicle’s fuel filter is an invaluable skill to have however not having the proper instruction could damage your car.
